PRIVACY POLICY — MD READER Effective date: October 31, 2026 App: MD Reader (com.tahatec.markdown) Developer: Tahatec Contact: support@tahatec.com SUMMARY MD Reader opens, displays, edits and exports Markdown documents entirely on your device. The app has no accounts, no sign-in and no servers of its own. The documents you open or write are never uploaded and never shared with us or anyone else. The network is used only for advertising, for the optional push notifications, for the anonymous usage and crash reports described below, and for web images inside a document if you choose to load them. 1. DOCUMENTS - Files you open (from the file picker, "Open with" or "Share") are read through Android's Storage Access Framework, which gives the app access to that one file only. The app has no permission to browse your storage. - When you press Save, the app writes back to the file you opened. Exports (PDF, HTML, plain text, Markdown copies) are written only to the location you choose in the system save dialog. - Documents you create in the app ("My documents") are stored in the app's private storage on your device. - The app remembers the names and locations of recently opened files, and where you stopped reading, so you can reopen them. This list stays on your device; you can remove entries or clear it at any time. - The clipboard is used only when you tap Copy. 2. WEB IMAGES AND LINKS A Markdown document can contain images hosted on the internet. Loading such an image tells its server your IP address and that the document was opened, so web images are NOT loaded unless you tap to load them or turn on "Load images from the web" in Settings. Links in a document open only after you confirm the address, in the browser or app you choose. 3. INFORMATION THE APP STORES Your preferences (theme, language, reading and editing settings, export style, notification choice), the recent-files list, reading positions and your own documents — all on your device only. Uninstalling the app deletes everything it stored. 4. ADVERTISING The app shows ads served by Google AdMob, which may also use certified mediation partners such as Meta Audience Network. When requesting and showing ads, these partners may collect and process data on their own behalf, such as your advertising ID, IP address, coarse location derived from it, and device and diagnostic information. This is standard for ad-supported apps and is governed by the partners' own policies: - Google: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites - Meta Audience Network: https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy Advertising partners never receive the contents or names of your documents. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and other regulated regions, the app shows a consent form (Google's User Messaging Platform) before any ad request is made, and you can change your choice at any time under Settings → Ad privacy choices inside the app. You can also reset your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalisation in your device's Google settings. 5. USAGE ANALYTICS AND CRASH REPORTS The app uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to learn which features are used (for example how a document was opened, or which export format was chosen) and to receive reports when the app crashes. These reports contain device and app information (model, OS version, app version, a random installation identifier) but never a document's text, its file name, its location, or the addresses of links in it. Firebase's handling of this data is described at https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy. 6. PUSH NOTIFICATIONS If you allow notifications, the app registers with Firebase Cloud Messaging so we can send occasional update announcements. Registration creates a device token held by Google; it is not linked to your identity and we store no list of recipients. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device's app settings. The prompt is shown only after your first save or export, never on launch. 7. PERMISSIONS AT A GLANCE - Internet: advertising, consent form, analytics, notifications and, only if you allow it, web images in documents. - Notifications (Android 13 and later): requested only if you choose to enable notifications. - No storage, camera, microphone, contacts or location permission is used. 8. CHILDREN The app is a utility, is not directed at children under 13, and we knowingly collect no personal information from anyone, including children. 9. DATA DELETION We hold no data about you, so there is nothing for us to delete: uninstalling the app removes everything it stored on your device. Analytics and crash data are held by Firebase under the policy linked in section 5, and advertising data by the partners in section 4. 10. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at the same address with a new effective date. Material changes will be reflected in the app's store listing. 11.
