Privacy Policy — DMG Extractor

Android com.tahatec.dmg_extractor · Published by Tahatec · Effective 19 October 2026

DMG Extractor (“the app”) opens Mac disk images — .dmg files and raw .img/.cdr images containing HFS+ or APFS volumes — lets you browse and preview what is inside, and extracts files or saves them as a ZIP. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with data.

Your files never leave your device

Every disk image is read by the app’s own code, entirely on your device. The images you open, the files inside them, their names, and the details of any Mac app inside them are never uploaded; the developer has no access to them and no server is involved. The app reads an image in place and does not copy it, except when a cloud storage app can only stream the file — then a temporary copy is kept in the app’s private cache until the next image is opened.

Extracted files are written only to the folder you choose, or to the file you name when saving or creating a ZIP. A file you share or open in another app is first written to the app’s private cache and handed to that app, one file at a time, only when you ask.

Passwords for encrypted disk images are used only on your device to unlock the image you are opening. They are never stored and never sent anywhere.

The Recent list stores the name, size and system link of images you opened, on your device only. Swiping an entry away, tapping Clear, or uninstalling the app removes it.

What leaves your device

1. Advertising. The app shows ads via Google AdMob. The ads SDK may collect the Android advertising ID, coarse location derived from the IP address, and diagnostic signals to serve and measure ads. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and regulated US states, ads are requested only after you make a choice in the consent dialog (Google UMP); you can change that choice later in Settings → Ad privacy choices.

2. Analytics and crash reporting. The app uses Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to understand which features are used and to fix crashes. Analytics events record the shape of an action only — for example that an APFS image with LZFSE compression of an approximate size was opened, or that an extraction of a bucketed number of files finished — never file or image names, folder paths, passwords, or which app an image contains. Crash reports contain stack traces and device model information, not the image being viewed.

What the app does not do

Permissions

The app requests only the INTERNET permission, used by ads, analytics and crash reporting. It asks for no storage permission: images reach the app only when you pick one or open one in it from another app, and output goes only where you choose through Android’s own file pickers.

Children

The app is a general-audience utility and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Deleting your data

Everything the app stores (the Recent list, settings and the chosen output folder) is on your device and is deleted by clearing it in the app or uninstalling. Files you extracted are yours and stay where you put them. For questions about data held by the services above, contact us and we will help.

Changes

Changes to this policy will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
