All bases at once
Binary, octal, decimal and hexadecimal fields are always there; add as many custom bases from 2 to 36 as you need and remove them again with undo. Negative numbers work too, with a change-sign key.
Big numbers, exact answers
The converter uses arbitrary-precision integers rather than 64-bit ones, so long hashes, keys and IDs up to 1,024 digits convert exactly instead of overflowing. Invalid digits are pointed out by name, for example that 9 is not a digit in base 8.
Readable output
- Group digits so long binary and hex values are easy to read
- Bit view showing how many bits a value needs
- Copy any single base, or share every base at once
- History of saved conversions
Questions
- How do I convert hexadecimal to binary?
- Type the hex value in the Hexadecimal field. The binary field fills in as you type, and you can turn on digit grouping to read it in groups.
- What is the largest number it can convert?
- Up to 1,024 digits in the base you are typing in. That is far beyond 64-bit limits, so 256-bit values such as SHA-256 digests convert exactly.
- Which bases are supported?
- Every base from 2 to 36, using the digits 0 to 9 and then the letters A to Z.
