How it plays
- Tap the tile whose shade differs; faster answers score more, and a streak multiplier builds
- A wrong tap costs a second and a half, and three in one round cost a life
- The board grows from 3×3 to 6×6 and the clock tightens from nine seconds to three
- Two power-ups once per run: a hint that clears half the wrong tiles, and five extra seconds
The daily challenge
One challenge a day, the same boards in the same order for everyone, one attempt and no extra lives, so a daily score means something. Share a result that shows how far and how fast you got without spoiling the puzzles, and build a daily streak.
Tuned to your screen, playable for everyone
The same colours look different on every display, so a twenty-second calibration finds the smallest difference your screen and eyes can show and makes that the game's hardest level. A “light and dark only” mode turns every difference into a lightness difference, playable whatever your colour vision.
What is not in it
No account, no banner ads, no ads between screens and no purchases. The only advertisement is one optional video for an extra life or hint. The daily challenge is worked out on your device, so it needs no connection.
Questions
- Is Shade Shift a colour blindness test?
- No. It is a game, and calibration adjusts it to your screen rather than measuring your eyes. If you have reduced colour vision, turn on the light-and-dark-only mode.
- Does it work offline?
- Yes, including the daily challenge, which is generated on your device from the date.
- Are there in-app purchases?
- No. The game is free, with one optional video ad you can choose to watch.
